Android 15 – ‘Sensitive notification content hidden’
A while ago my Google Pixel 8 Pro is updated to Android 15. But after doing so I suddenly got messages on my smartwatch with the message: ‘Sensitive notification content hidden’.
This occurred when getting SMS or Mail messages (somehow Whatsapp mostly worked).
After googling around the internet I found the solution that worked for me.
One first thing you could try is change some settings in your phone:
- Disable Enhanced Notifications:
- Go to your phone’s Settings
- Navigate to Notifications
- Turn off the “Enhanced notifications” option
For me this did not work, but luckily I am a developer and have the ADB installed. This can be used to debug Android devices, but also for changing settings for apps using de adb command.
Step 1: Set up your computer
- Install ADB:
- If you don’t already have ADB installed, download it from the Android Developer website.
- Alternatively, you can install ADB using a package manager:
- Windows: Install the platform-tools or use Chocolatey:
choco install adb - Mac: Use Homebrew:
brew install android-platform-tools - Linux: Use your distribution’s package manager. For Ubuntu:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install adb
- Windows: Install the platform-tools or use Chocolatey:
- Add ADB to your system path:
- Make sure the
platform-toolsdirectory is in your PATH so you can use theadbcommand globally.
- Make sure the
Step 2: Prepare your Android phone
- Enable Developer Options:
- Go to Settings > About Phone.
- Tap Build number 7 times until it says “You are now a developer.”
- Enable USB Debugging:
- Go to Settings > System > Developer options (or just “Developer options” depending on your phone).
- Enable USB Debugging.
Step 3: Connect your Android phone (using USB)
- List connected devices:
adb devices -l
This command shows a list of the devices connected using USB.
ex:3B181XYZJG005DA device usb:1-1 product:husky model:Pixel_8_Pro device:husky transport_id:75 - Check installed packages on phone
adb shell pm list packages
This will return a list with packages installed like:....
package:com.paypal.android.p2pmobile
package:com.android.systemui.auto_generated_rro_product__
package:com.adobe.scan.android
package:com.huawei.health
package:com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks
package:com.google.pixel.camera.services
package:com.google.ambient.streaming
.... - Run a command to enable receiving sensitve notifications
adb shell appops set com.huawei.health RECEIVE_SENSITIVE_NOTIFICATIONS allow - Reboot the phone
After running the command you should reboot the phone and you should be able to receive
messages again on you watch when you phone is locked. - [Optional] Verify whether the settings is set correctly
adb shell appops get com.huawei.health
This will return all the settings for thecom.huaweu.healthapp.
You should see the setting to be set toallow.
